Chatham Summer Festival

June 30th - July 1st 2023

The Summer Festival is an event that brings together academics from the University of Kent, representatives from Medway Council and Chatham residents to learn from each other. It is an opportunity for the academics to present their research projects and for residents and the Medway Council to provide feedback which will help shape the academics’ future work and ensure that this will help address some of the challenges that Chatham is facing. We expect the event to be a first step of a long-term collaboration.

Events included in the Summer Festival:

Short presentations introducing recent and ongoing research projects developed by researchers at the University of Kent. Topics include Climate Change, Health, Culture, Green Infrastructure, Heritage, Placemaking and Housing.

Roundtables with academics, Medway Council and residents to exchange views and ideas around topics introduced in the presentations and others.

An exhibition of architectural projects in the Intra Historic High Street developed by the students at Kent School of Architecture and Planning

The Urban Room a proposed hub for Chatham stakeholders to debate about the city, initiated by the Kent School of Architecture and Planning in collaboration with Medway Council.
